New Cigars with Crowned Heads

In our latest interview, we welcome back one of our long time friend and master blender Jon Huber of Crowned Heads Cigars. With all the madness going on out in the world, you wouldn’t expect anyone to get as much done as Jon and Crowned Heads have. They’ve had the Crowned Heads train rolling and have not looked back once! In our interview, Jon goes over how he’s been able to stay productive the last eight months and what the team over in Nashville has been able to release with the cancellation of the PCA. Check out the interview above right now to hear all things Crowned Heads. Hope you enjoy!

Las Calaveras 2020

Although it was only released a few months ago, we’ve included the Las Calaveras 2020 in a Top 5, enjoyed smoking it on one of our podcast episodes, and recently did a cigar review on this gem. But the Las Calaveras 2020 is a very special cigar for a number of reasons. Every year, Crowned Heads releases a special limited edition cigar known as Las Calaveras, that pays homage to the ones we’ve lost throughout the year.  The purple and gold color scheme is to honor the late & great NBA Hall of Famer Kobe Bryant. Jon admired everything about the future Hall of Famer, so it’s only right that he honors him with one of the companies most special and popular annual releases.

Significantly reducing the production for the 2020 release, Crowned Heads released only 1,000 boxes of each size and only 500 samplers. The Las Calaveras 2020 has an Ecuador Habano wrapper, with the same Nicaraguan tobaccos that make up the binder and filler. Some flavor notes you may detect while smoking Las Calaveras 2020 are wood, dark chocolate, earth, and roasted nuts. Available in three different sizes, head over to our website now to get your hands on the limited-edition Las Calaveras 2020.

Four Kicks Mule Kick 2020

Shortly after releasing the Las Calaveras 2020, Crowned Heads were back at again! They released the ever so popular Four Kicks Mule Kick 2020 in July of this year. Coming from long time friends and collaborators, Jon Huber and Ernesto Perez-Carrillo were the master blenders behind the fifth installment of this limited edition release. For the very first time, the Four Kicks Mule Kick 2020 is a Nicaraguan Puro!

This medium-bodied smoke has delicious flavor notes flowing throughout this smoke. Some notes you’ll detect while smoking the 2020 Mule Kick are cedar, citrus, spice, and nuts. Crowned Heads produced only 2,500 boxes of the 2020 Mule Kick. To find out more about the Four Kicks Mule Kick 2020, we recently reviewed the cigar! You can check it out now right here!

Four Kicks Capa Especial

Released in the fall of 2020, the Four Kicks Capa Especial is a new limited edition from Crowned Heads, but the blend used to make this smoke is almost ten years old! This was a blend that had the potential to be the original blend for the very first Four Kicks but they went in another direction. Well almost ten years later, Ernesto Perez-Carrillo went back to his original creation, and along came the Four Kicks Capa Especial!

The Four Kicks Capa Especial is the fourth addition to the famous line and was handcrafted by EP Carrillo at his famed Tabacalera Alianza factory in the Dominican Republic. With an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper, a binder from Nicaragua, and filler tobaccos from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua, the Capa Especial is a full-bodied smoke with a delicious blend. While smoking the Capa Especial, you’ll experience delicious flavor notes of earth, woods, and spice. The Capa Especial adds history and value to the long list of cigars under the Crowned Heads brand.

Mil Dias

This specific cigar line is very special to Jon. If you follow the Crowned Heads Instagram account, you can see Jon sharing beautiful images of his newest creation, the “Mil Dias”. “Mil Dias” translates to “one thousand days”, which is a reference to the three-year window of time required to bring this project from fruition to completion. This ultra-premium cigar developed in partnership with Tabacalera Pichardo, the factory behind the highly successful “Juarez” brand.

The project began when Don Eradio Pichardo and Luciano Meirelles presented blend samples to Jon Huber at the 2017 IPCPR Trade Show. The brand language is a collision of modern luxury and iconic tradition, bringing modernity to the classic cigar brand expression. The flavor profile may be described as medium-plus in body, and full in flavor, exhibiting exquisite balance and complexity.

Mil Dias is a four-vitola collection comprised of a Nicaraguan binder, filler tobaccos from Nicaragua, Peru, and Costa Rica, finished with an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper. If you’d like a more in depth look at the Mil Dias, check out our podcast episode a few months back where we did our own review of the Mil Dias.

Wahbash Cannonball Exclusive Smoke

Big events were planned and rolled out that involved a collaboration between the Casa de Montecristo store located in Nashville, Tennesse, and Jon Huber. The store exclusive smoke Jon created is called the Wabash Cannonball. When approached by CdM to create an exclusive smoke, Jon Huber immediately wanted to use this great opportunity to pay homage to one of the many things that make Nashville great. This epic steel rollercoaster was a main attraction at the Opryland USA theme park from 1975 to 1997.

Manufactured at Tabacalera La Alianza in the Dominican Republic, Wabash Cannonball is a 5 1/2 by 48 Parejo that features a Mexican San Andres wrapper, with a Crowned Heads signature Nicaraguan binder and filler tobaccos. Coming in a 12-count box, the Wabash Cannonball had a total production of 5,000 cigars in total. With Jon Huber missing the “Old Nashville”, he found some pleasure in making this exclusive smoke to take him back to the Nashville, Tennesse he once loved endlessly.
