Cigar Aficionado Top 25 of 2015 – #5, #4

The countdown has begun and we have already seen some of the best cigars of the year being ranked. Rocky Patel, Illusione, and Liga Privada have been named in the top 10, and we have several more to go. Today, two giants of the industry received their place in the Pantheon of cigar greats. Lets see who Aficionado placed as number 5 and 4 in their list.

5.) Padron Family Reserve 50 Years Natural– This cigar is unstoppable! Last year we saw the maduro version of this cigar reach #7 on the Top 25 list. This year, its natural counterpart has been ranked at #5. The Family Reserve line has received countless top awards and rankings, and there is no end in sight. 3 times a Padron has been named Cigar of the Year and has at least placed in the top 10 every year as well. This rich beauty was crafted in honor of the 50th Anniversary of the company’s history. It is a delicious, medium to full bodied box press which uses vintage Nicaraguan tobacco that has been aged no less than 10 years. It is perfectly constructed and has great notes of earth, cocoa and coffee. This 5 x 54 was ranked 94 this year.

4.) Arturo Fuente Don Carlos Belicoso– There would even be a Top 25 list if there was a Fuente ranked on it. An Arturo Fuente being named as one of the best cigar sof the year is like the Yankees making the playoffs. Well, except for this year maybe. This year, Cigar Aficionado choice one of the company’s hallmark brands, the Don Carlos Belicoso. For nearly 3 decades this cigar has dominated the Dominican cigar market and it considered by many as the best Cameroon wrapped cigar in the world. They are rich and refined, with a flavor profile consisting of nuts and chocolate with a delectable sweet finish. It uses vintage Dominican tobaccos for the binder and filler, and is wrapped with its signature Cameroon wrapper. This 5 3/8 by 52 Belicoso received a 94 rating.
