CAO OSA SOL
WRAPPER: Honduras BINDER: Ecuador Connecticut FILLER: Nicaragua/Honduras
STRENGTH: Medium
Surrounded by tree-covered mountains and a
crystal-clear river, Olancho, San Agustín, is nestled
in one of the most fertile valleys of Honduras.
The untouched land encompassing this tobacco
plantation boasts a rich soil nurtured by the sun
and fed by pure, natural springs that together give
this sun-grown wrapper its unique flavor and full-bodied
aroma.
The 2008 crop that wraps the OSA Sol bears
the distinctions of ideal climatic conditions—
optimal rainfall and sunshine that led to the leaf ’s
essential natural oils which, when processed with
General Cigar’s proprietary methods, contribute
to the cigar’s robust, earthy flavor.
Rick Rodriguez, spearhead of CAO’s new-product
development, collaborated with in-house cigar
experts in the blending of the OSA Sol, a three-cigar
assortment celebrating this proprietary
Honduran tobacco and marking the first new
collection created for CAO under the auspices of
General Cigar.
OSA Sol is medium-bodied with a consistently
intriguing flavor and immaculate construction. To
achieve its uniquely balanced taste, Rodriguez and
his team punctuated the flavorful OSA wrapper
with a hearty Connecticut broadleaf binder and
a blend of Nicaraguan and Honduran fillers. The
result is a provocative taste that celebrates the
nuances of the tobaccos of Olancho, San Agustín.
Accessibly priced, the OSA Sol is protected in a
unique box with an eye-catching color scheme
that pays homage to the whitewashed curing
barns on the very farm where the tobaccos were
cured. Much like the cigars within, the handsome
box is sure to be treasured by discriminating
premium-cigar smokers.
