In the early 1990s, the original Diamond Crown line was introduced to honor the 100th anniversary of J.C. Newman Cigar Company. A decade later, Carlos Fuente Jr. began searching for just the right tobacco blend to perfect this fuller-bodied masterpiece, which was released in 2003. These robust, flavorful smokes are a unique pairing of aged Dominican filler tobaccos with dark, Ecuadorian sun-grown wrappers. Harvested at Oliva Tobacco's El Bajo plantation, the leaves used for this cigar’s wrapper are handpicked from the plant’s upper-corona portion, which provides the richest, hardiest, and darkest tobacco that adds some kick to a cigar. Only extremely limited quantities of this rare and complex cigar are available.
