I just received a bundle of Consuegra 25 Double Corona EMS. Im very disapointed with this cigar and very suprised with the strength and lack of taste. I have bought Consuegra from JRs before and was very happy, I love the Pyramid 84 EMS which is med/strong, flavorful and well constucted. I would order the Pyramid again and wish I did instead of this nasty Double Cornoa. The Consuegra Double Corona is one of the worst cigars that ever touched my lips. I was expecting something good from my previous Consuegra experience, but the Double Corona is down right nasty. It looks good, nice construction, good draw, but it has absolutly ZERO taste. It is mild, not med/strong like most Consuegra cigars. It is like smoking, dust, with hint of cobwebs and saw dust, and a finish of salty brine. It is absolutly terrible and I still have 22 out of a 25 bundle. I tried three, thinking maybe one bad one out of the bundle, but all three were nasty. I wish I could send the remaining 22 cigars back for a refund, if not they will go into my compost barrel.
I have smoked 16,17 ,73, and 84s and will keep 16, 73, 84 on hand, all of my bundles come with yellow aged cello, so flavors blend on aging, they would be amazing if these came cedar wrappedhint. Not a cheap cigar as you can see the differant leaves by looking at the foot of the cigar. Good smoke, occasionally may need to touch 1 up but then burns clean all the way down, I wish more were on the daily auction.
For a bundle cigar, these are a great value. Could use a little seasoning in the humidor a year or more, but for the price, an excellent cigar. NOTE: the maduro consuegras usually unravel but they do taste great.
JR has the best value cigars for a guy on budget..
Hey, if you are a working guy like me, and not a Wall Street bankster or a lawyer or some overpaid CEO. You got the government excise taxes and regulations pushing up cigar prices! So how is guy like me going to find a decent smoke I can afford? Ive tried the so-called economy and overrun cigars at other online retail stores, and was disappointed. Well, Consuegra is one great alternative. In fact, even a rich guy who could afford the high priced brands would enjoy the Consuegra line. JR has the best choices for penny pinchers and working stiffs like me, and this is one of them. Usually, I buy a couple of the 5 packs of some big name brands, and a bundle of these every month or so. BTW, I smoke the Governmer EMS 16.
Cant beat the price. An excellent cigar for the money. As good or better than a lot of higher priced brands.
Can you wait?
If you can start stocking up on these now and plan to start enjoying them in a year or more you will be rewarded. Yes, these are seconds and they are not aged after being rolled. If you smoke one upon recieving them you will have yuck mouth. Cigars that look right, arent off colored and rolled expertly are the ones put in storage to sell later in boxes. I agree with another that the Consuegras taste horible when you first get them. Invest in a humidor, humidifier agent and rest these cigars in it for a year or more. The cigars will transform into mouth watering creamy, leather, sweet cedar yum sticks. Can you wait?
Consuegra Principale 73 Maduro
For the price, this is a steal! Great cigar in all respects... Nice, mild, flavorful smoke. PS, I use a punch on these.
The classic Segundo!
After years of reading mostly great reviews about these famous Honduran seconds on my favorite cigar message boards, I finally ordered a bundle. I have to say that I agree that these taste just about, or as good as my favorite brand Hoyo de Monterrey. I did knock off a few stars for construction. After all, they are seconds and the wrappers do vary. But even then, you still get a great tasting smoke for the price. Perfect for the golf course or when you dont have the time to sit back and relax with a premium cigar. I highly recommend these.
