These are exactly as described. They burn well and provide good, medium body flavor. And the price is very good for everyday smokes.
My Only Smoke
I have been ordering the Rosa Cuba Ortiz y Laboy for about five years now. Whenever I try another smoke I am always disappointed and head back to the Ortiz y Laboy. I have smoked well over 2,000 of these cigars and I can count on one hand the number of them that did not draw down evenly. It will be a sad day for me if they are no longer available.
Great everyday smoke!
If you are expecting the quality of a $10.00 cigar, these are not for you. But for an everyday mixed filler smoke, they are surprisingly tasty! They burn as well as a long filler cigar. The construction is very good. Now for the flavor. These are medium bodied smokes with an almost sweet spicy flavor and a great aroma. This is my go to afternoon smoke!
Cant beat the price and taste
These angels were recommended to me by Bryan over at cigarobsession.com and he hit the nail on the head with these babies. For only a buck a piece you can get a nice 30-40 smoke. I fire these guys up when Im washing the car or cutting the grass - any time I want a short yet flavorful smoke and with J*Rs $5.00 shipping and quick delivery, its a no-brainer getting a pack.
You get what you pay for I guess.
I dont think the other reviews are from actual customers. I went into my local JR in Whippany, NJ looking for a cheap smoke and while perusing through the JR alternatives, one of the employees suggested I try these as they sell like crazy and people like them. I thought this might be a diamond in the rough - little did I know that he was try pushing product off the shelf that no one buys. They sell for about 30 for 20 cigars which is ridiculously cheap but its basically throwing your money out. These cigars are by far the worst cigars I have ever smoked. Let me give you a few reasons why: *1_Soft/spongy/not very dense. *2_Speckled wrapper *3_Really Inconsistent - uneven burn, draw, ash, ect. *4_Tobacco has a weird taste with an almost chemical quality to it. **5_Worst of all the filler is made up of small pieces that constantly come apart in your mouth as you smoke it. There really is nothing good about these cigars. I will honestly be throwing them out after smoking a handful. They are gas station cigars being sold at a cigar shop. Most likely anything else will be better so look elsewhere.
Read a review of the Angel on CO website so decided to try the next size up, the 5.5 x 44 ring. For a $1.15 mixed filler stick this thing is superb. Outstanding flavor profile. Sweet, spicy, smooth and creamy black tobacco with hints of coffee. Was able to smoke it down to the 2 inch mark before it became mushy and hot. Lasted about 40 minutes. I am going to get a boatload of these. Absolutely fantastic cigar if you like to smoke for taste and cannot afford to burn 5 or 6 Diesels, CAOs, 5 Vegas AAAs, etc. per day.
A good $1.25 cigar
This is my regular smoke, and has been for nearly 10 years. I admit I am conservative when it comes to paying large sums for something that I am going to burn up, and part of my enjoyment of these cigars is knowing that I havent spent too much. But most importantly, I love the flavor. I smoke premiums on special occasions R&J, Macs, Davidoff, etc. but for a nearly everyday smoke RCs cant be beat. I dont detect flavors like some of the reviewers do hints of cocoa and spice, leather and woody cedar in the high end sticks, so I may be plebian my tastes. But I love my Rosa Cubas!
