HOYO DE MONTERREY CERTIFIED VINTAGE
WRAPPER: Ecuador Sumatra BINDER: Connecticut Broadleaf FILLER: Dominican Republic/Honduras/Nicaragua
In 1999, General Cigar designed a special Hoyo de Monterrey line for an organization of full-price tobacconists... and J•R was prohibited from buying it. After a run of three or four years, the brand extension was discontinued due to low order volume by these same tobacconists, and whatever cigars were still in production never got boxed. And, lo and behold, who’s the only company in the world that has these cigars now? J•R! These figurados are no more than a mild-to-medium smoke but, boy, are they ever good!

An experience to be enjoyed!
I have been enjoying the Aristocrat why does the term obseqio keep ringing in my ears and the figurado pyramid. The Pyramids are on the mild side, but still have the Hoyo de Monterrey taste. The Aristocrats are incedible, but you have to take a good half inch off to get a perfect draw. The Aristocrat delivers a fuller bodied flavor which makes you wish it could go on forever. Both shapes light easily, burn evenly and smoke like a dream. Im glad I got 10 of each shape. I have been smoking Hoye de Monterrey since 1976 and thses 1999s are a credit to the line.
Well done, JR
Arrived properly aged and humidified. A refreshing and mild smoke with minimal aftertaste. Not the right cigar if youre looking for depth/complexity/creaminess. The right cigar if youre looking for zest and pop.
