DON TOMAS CAMEROON COLLECTION
WRAPPER: Cameroon BINDER: Dominican Republic FILLER: Brazil/Dominican Republic/Mexico
Expertly handcrafted in Danlí, Honduras, this collection was launched in 2000. Each cigar is carefully handrolled to deliver a smooth, even burn. Created from the superb blending of aged tobaccos from three nations, bound in Dominican leaf, and then wrapped in a sun-grown Cameroon, this is a rich, spicy, and woodsy smoke certain to satisfy even the most discriminating connoisseur.

Under The Radar Classic
The Don Tomás Perfecto No. 1 is far and away my favorite Cameroon-wrapped cigar. The blend is spicy, bursting with complex flavor but medium in body with a slight peppery bite, and of course there is that fantastic clove-like Cameroon sweetness, which really shines through in the 48 ring gauge. That first full-size draw you get when the cigar widens out after the pinched foot is like heaven on earth, and the next three and a half inches totally live up to it. I know this will make some people shake their heads in disgust, but I actually prefer these to the comparably-sized Hemingway Short Stories. I readily admit the Hemingway develops more as you smoke it, while the Don Tomás tastes the same pretty much from foot to nub. Still, this blend in my opinion somehow manages to be both milder and slightly more complex than the Short Story, and I think including that bit of earthy Mexican leaf was a stroke of genius. Its also one of the few cigars I can enjoy equally with coffee, whisky, tea, or even a glass of Port. Frankly, I hesitate to recommend these to anyone because I would like to smoke them all myself, especially since it looks to me like production of these has been discontinued or at least significantly reduced.
