In 2001, General Cigar ran a trial promotion during which the company sent consumers two premium cigars simply labeled “Selection No. 1” and “Selection No. 2.” Then, in focus groups and by letter and e-mail, those consumers voiced their preferences. The more favorably received cigar went into production to become the Excalibur 1066. Anyway, while this is possibly not the greatest sales pitch in the world, these Excalibur 1066 Certified Vintage smokes are the “Selection No. 1” cigars that were not picked by the focus groups.
However, these Cameroon-wrapped vintage smokes have had lots of time to age and season. Featuring a medium-bodied multination blend of fine premium tobaccos, they really are a hell of a smoke… especially at these prices.
