Nat Sherman
Nat Sherman was a real character, and it would take a book (and his son Joel wrote one) to describe all the characters that frequented his New York shop from the days before the great depression until his passing a few years ago. He was one of those "Runyon-esque" type characters, similar to the gritty guys played by James Cagney and Edward G. Robinson in the early days of their Hollywood careers.
While known everywhere for the many crazy styles of luxury-priced and multicolored cigarettes, Nat's real passion was for cigars, and it was rare that you'd see him without a big "heater" in his hand. Today, his company is run by his son Joel and his children – still a family-run business.
In the 2008 No.3 Catalog, we featured the Best of Nat Sherman - Host Selection, Suave, 1400 Series and Champion.
